got worship? Media began as a simple place to talk about things relevant to worship leaders – and it has grown today to be a resource utilized by a worship community from over two dozen countries across the globe.
What was once a simple blog has now been transformed into a single repository for anything and everything worship. Since our beginnings, we have been honored to have been asked to be the “Official Blog for the Gospel Music Association’s IMMERSE” as well as an official blogger for the “National Worship Leaders Conference“. Our articles have been republished on several mainstream worship publications – and, to that, we give God every ounce of the glory.
While a few things may have changed since we began the site, one thing has remained constant – we are Christ-centered. We couldn’t possibly think about doing an “about us” page without giving a Statement of Faith.
About gotworship.net / Jason Whitehorn / Statement of Faith
***Statement of Faith***
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1Peter 1:2; 2Corinthians 13:14
Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates man from God.
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2
Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords.
Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13
Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1
About Eternal Security
Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security.
John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10,14; 1 Peter 3:5
About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.
2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Act 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1
About the Bible
The Bible is God’s word to all men. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5
***About Jason & gotworship.net***
Thanks for stopping by my little place here online. My name is Jason Whitehorn and, although my past has given me several great titles and occupations – the title I wish to be known by is simple…a Christ Follower.
Being a Christ Follower means everything to me. It’s a noun, a verb, an adverb, and adjective…it is a new way of life for me after finding the Truth of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
This website has been designed to express my “calling”. I have a sincere desire to serve the Lord with all of my heart and I want the world to know about my journey. A few years back, I became a Worship Pastor and found one of the greatest joys I could have found – ministry through music. Somehow along the way, I changed courses and pursued other careers. Most of my “steering” came from the simple fact that I had no full time position at the time and needed income to support my family. After over three years of continued service as Worship Leader in one church – life took an interesting turn away from the state of Oklahoma to Nashville, Tennessee. It was there that we joined a new church along with my new job. It was there that everything started changing.
My wife and I (Crystal had previously been the Preschool Director at our former church) decided that we would “sit out” on service for a change. We had not attended a single worship service together in over three years
because of our responsibilities in our previous church, and we wanted to “take a break” and enjoy worship together. The problem our logic was…God doesn’t take breaks.
God soon began tugging at my heart to return to my first love and join the worship team at LifePoint. My heart and soul were re-energized by joining the team. I soon joined the songwriting group there and began writing songs of worship for corporate church use. Then, one Sunday, I led a Lee McDerment song.
The song haunted me. “Go tell it……tell them your story….He
saved your life!” How true the words were! I had the pleasure of talking to Lee about his song after leading it and told him that he wrote the most perfect…most true…most inspiring lyric within those three simple statements.
It was with that song that I realized that I had a calling…a calling to spread his word through music.
I want to give you the opportunity to learn about my new journey. I want to
give you the opportunity to learn more about my new mission in life – and to learn more about worshiping God.
I sincerely thank you for stopping by this site – and encourage you to visit the links below to learn more.
Until Every Knee Bows,
While I attend church and am on the Worship Team at LifePoint Church near Nashville, TN – the views and opinions stated on this blog are mine alone
